In a press conference on Tuesday, Mayor Wheeler announced that he plans to implement a handful of emergency measures aimed at protecting renters during the ongoing pandemic. Currently relocation assistance is only owed when property owners increase rent by at least 10%. Wheeler will also allocate $500,000 to housing stabilization programs in East Portland. Last month, regional government agencies allocated $29 million in rental assistance to households that have been impacted by the pandemic. Read more.
